Hi David, all
What a fantastically 21st century discussion this has turned into..... how
do you think any of this will be of practical use in a hundred years or
so...
consider this....
the global population is growing, the production and manufacture of "goods"
will become increasingly automated, the production of food needs less and
less human input, just what jobs are all our children going to do, for
example the growth of the tourist industry, has rocketed in recent years,
why? is it because we all have more money and time, and we want to travel
more, or is it the first sign that jobs are being fabricated simply to give
people something to do, so they can feel good about themselves, contributing
to society, and being good citizens!!
Seriously, what jobs are going to be around in a hundred years? What is the
purpose of work other than to keep the "economy" growing. At some point in
the near future there really are going to be too many people and not enough
jobs to go around, what will this mean to us? Is it a good thing? will
people be villified for not working as is the norm at present? Are there
better uses of our time and energy?
The marketplace economy will have to come to an end at some point, so I
would dearly like to hear ideas of where we go from there.....
