Heya Angus,

ANGUS:>That's why I dislike the Catholic church in

ERIN: I read an evolutionary psychology idea long time ago in "The Moral
Animal" that the madonna/whore complex had something to do with the male
worried about being 'tricked' into providing for offspring that were not their
own. Evolutionary psychologists propose some gender differences in mating
males--look for youth (sign of fertility) and are more upset at a "sexual
affair" ; females look for resources (provide for offfspring) and are more
upset at an "emotional affair"

I think the madonna/whore complex may have been part of Pirsig's struggle with
Lila with deciding whether LILA had quality.

>the ANIMUS in Wizard of Oz?

Oh yes the little man behind the curtain--wise old man archetype at work no?
I just got back from seeing "Amelia"---that was a good movie lots of Jung
ideas at work.

You see LILA struggling with the anima (chapter 10 for example).
It is usually some wisdom/death representation.

P.S. What Forum company are you talking about?

P.P.S. New religions of athletes??--didn't catch that
