Hi Erin,
Thanks for the reference on the Moral Animal.

That's why I went with the 1 night stand imagery. It's
such a "guy thing" to struggle with these issues, so
it's clear his problem is some sort of anima problem.
It reminds me exactly of Eyes Wide Shut, which Kubrick
called his love letter to his wife. Lila is a love
letter to "lila" and how men Need an "Odyssey" to
figure out what any Penelope (read: woman) figures out
in a moment: animal love is NOT such a big deal. Women
as Jung notes are MORE INTEGRATED generally. They have
a builtin earthly ritual (menstruation) and culturally
they are providers of things "of the earth": food, a
home, etc. Men in general are STUPID in regards to
integration and they need an odyssey like in Eyes Wide
Shut to figure it out WHILE the woman waits (penelope:
almost woven). Granted, women have their
idiosyncrasies too but it's clear how interdependent
humans are in the love realm.

Wizard of Oz would have to be an animus integration.
The Good Witch would be the "Wise Old Woman", the bad
Witch would be the female archetype (making her sleep
et al), tinman, scarecrow and lion would be the
masculine archetype, and man behind the curtain is the
animus. Wizard of Oz INSTEAD of Maya. A: 10 T: 9 E: 8.

I rate movies on an A.T.E. scale: aesthetically,
emotionally, and transcendentally, which I sort of
stole from Woody Allen. Anyway I thought Amelie was
low on transcendent, like 4 or something, and maybe 8
aesthetically, and 7 emotionally. But I'll have to
rethink it. Laurence of Arabia of course is 10 10 10!

Go into more detail please.

> P.S. What Forum company are you talking about?
It's the Landmark company, they're a self help
company. It's good stuff: they take a bunch of
Carnegie stuff, mix it with postmodernism, put a dose
of Jung on top, and help you figure out your other.

> P.P.S. New religions of athletes??--didn't catch

Just a thought: notice how Venus Williams and Tiger
Woods are promoted by their fathers (Animus) as the
new "person" beyond athletics. A cabal of Venus and
Tiger would be really cool.
It would be beyond postmodernism because it injects
"performance" into the realm of meaning. THey are part
of the "show".
