I agree. Although ideas and concepts are used intellectually, the terms and
ideas north south east and west are all pure social mediations. When these
terms get woven into a greater pattern, a personal thought, then they become
part of an intellectual pattern. North, south, east and west have two
meanings, one is the social definition which no intellect can argue with and
the other is whatever the viewer thinks when he/she sees these words. Those
are intellectual patterns because they are different for each individual.
But the words and ideas are not intellectual themselves, only our reaction
to them.
