Many thanks for the reference to Nishida and to Roger's excellent review
in the MOQ_ discuss archives. I recommend it to everyone. The quotes
that I especially liked were:
"It is the artist, not the scholar, who arrives at the true nature of reality."
and
"True reality, like the true meaning of art, is not something that can be
transmitted from one person to another. All we can transmit is an
abstract shell."
Reminded me of another favorite saying of mine:
"The only valid thing in art is the one thing that cannot be explained."
Roger wrote at the time, "Nishida has given me new insights in how to
approach the MOQ." I would be most interested to have you, Roger,
expand on this if you would like.
