Hi Eliott, Platt, David B., and Horse,
PLATT (to Eliott),
I also had to chuckle at David's claim that the division between social
and intellectual level is the same as the division between someone
reading about events and some reading about what someone else
wrote. Your exposure of his logic which led instantly to infinite
regress
was devastatingly accurate.
Yes, I also find it amusing. I was tempted to take Dave's list and put
philosophy on the left and philosophology on the right, but David had
already given us:
>thinking..................................philosophizing
[David B., 1-June-2002, 22:33 GMT]
I suppose that the solution is to move philosophology up to the "fifth
level";-)
Sorry to mock you, Dave. The funny thing is that politically, I have
similar socio-economic views to yours. I am miles away from Platt.
IMO, what has discredited socialism is not the economics but the
dogmatic philosophies of the regimes that championed socialism as a
cause. A major component of this philosophy is the attitude "we are more
moral and cleverer than you . . .". Dave, you appear to take this same
holier than though attitude in your posts to this forum.
Finally, a question to Horse . . .
******What ever happened to the "four posts a day" rule that is in the
MD charter?
I am losing interest in this forum because of the huge inflation of
half-baked drivel getting sent out. People, please THINK and do some
PHILOSOPHIZING before each and every post. If you don't have the time to
focus your post, don't send it until you can make the time. I also have
limited time, and can no longer wade through dozens of posts just in
case someone actually said something new.
