Hello All!
Physics deals with reality.
Metaphysics deals with where reality came from.
We may wish to postulate that reality is One, Two or many.
If we say reality is One, then it becomes clear there is more than one
derived from the One, because all these words are more than one for a start!
We may then wish to ask what is the first to emerge from the One?
Much of western philosophy, according to Pirsig, assumes that the first basic
split from the One is that of Subject and Object. Pirsig argues this split
exists even if it is not directly referred to!
Unless it is postulated that reality is more than One to begin with,
experience tells us that there is more than one, and this has to be
explained. No matter how you begin to explain this, Subjects and Objects
sneak unobtrusively in the background!
Of course, you may wish to postulate that reality is infinite and similar
things fall together under the influence of some synchronistic enfolding?
Rather than emerging from One, maybe Subjects and Objects fall together from
the many?
All the best,
Squonk.
