Scott,

In looking at what I like in both Rorty and Pirsig, the idea of an "ironic
metaphysics" intrigues me greatly. Much like the contradiction in terms
that the "Metaphysics of Quality" is, an ironic metaphysics might serve as
some sort of quasi-foundation, without actually turning into a foundation,
much like a literal word turns into the foundation of a metaphor without
continuing on as that foundation when the new metaphor turns into an old
metaphor (aka a literal word).

Hmm, definitely food for thought....
