Dear Wim et al
I really don't see what is wrong with accepting the idea that we are
individuals made up of parts.....
It doesn't worry me that I have an unconscious mind, a subconscious mind and
a conscious one... it's just the way we have evolved, the unconscious mind
has been reacting to DQ long before we made the leap to consciousness.
As previously stated I have reorganised my thoughts to include the
unconscious mind which is common to all humanity, leaving the subconscious
to be individual to each of us, formed out of our own experiences.
As for your question " Where does the 'separate, conscious part of your
being' go when you are
asleep?!? " , it doesn't go anywhere it is a part of you, where could it go
to? I always had assumed that sleep was necessary in part to rest the
conscious mind as well as the body.
And I'm sorry to say I can't accept the analogy of a dark room with a candle
in it, I think of my conscious mind as a projection from within both the
unconscious and subconscious, almost like a coral polyp coming out the when
I awake and retreating back to the safety of its home, when I sleep.
Cheers
Rod
