Here's my take (sorry for the delay).

Elvis was so popular because of his DYNAMIC QUALITY. Yes, by modern
standards, I agree that his music was repetitious and his dancing a mere
snippet of what Britney Spears does on stage nowadays. Now, Elvis is a
static latch for us at the beginning of Rock and Roll. Several latches
have occurred in music since then, some good, some not so good, but all of
them were pure DQ when they happened.

I think Britney Spears is a talentless "ho", but apparently I'm lacking in
the DQ that her generation seems to detect in her music. I'm sure that in
five years, this segment of talentless boy bands and pretty, but clueless
girls, will be looked upon with much derision as well...
