In his 1961-published book “African Genesis: A Personal Investigation into
the Animal Origins and Nature of Man,” author Robert Ardrey gives a
convincing argument that many of the attributes human beings in general hold
to be solely human (i.e., what is called “morality”—altruism, etc.) are seen
in other species; that society is in fact pre-human.
