MD Conan Doyle - Maps and Territory

Hi Rick,

very interesting.

the same goes for other famous phrases:

Humphrey Bogart never says "Play it again, Sam" in Casablanca,
Nicolo' Machiavelli never wrote "The end justifies the means",
Albert Einstein never said "God does not toss dice"....

good examples of "maps" (summary/interpretation of someone else's thought)
that become territory (we act as if they really have said that) ?

Ciao,
Marco

> The closest phrase from any of Conan-Doyle's stories comes from 'The
> Crooked Man'--- "Excellent!" I cried. "Elementary!", said he.
