again by that logic, books do not explain ideas, they can only portray them,
just as pieces of music, mathemathical formule (for each of them you have to
bring something with you - if you do not bring it with you they will be cool
and all but not at a deeper more rearl level, like i like fractals, and barely
know what lies beneth) and exquisite wine simply portray ideas. Actually i put
in the wine in partial support of your argument. Say noone knew what made wine
get it's flavour (which is true to an exitent as i don't think one has
separated and identified all of the constituents of a wine, but false, as wine
growing and brewing is a science)well then sure it is simply displaying
something of great complexity (which i assiciate with intelectual value)
withouth knowing what it is doing.
Now fight club - irrespective of the creaters motives, the psychology is ini
there for you to find. It is in the movie, just as stuff is in ZMM to find. To
say that my teaching you (giving you the information of how to) to do maths by
solving 30 problems in frount of you vs. my simply explaining the whole
procedure in words makes the first process of a lower intelectual value, does
not make sence. Actually more information is contained in the 30 examples, than
in the straightforward, neat concise explanation.
Just as in a movie, it has multiple leves of intelectual presentation - it can
do everything a book can do, plus everything a music score can do, plus some of
what a phychologist can do, plus what a story teller can do, plus what a
photographer and painter can do, plus, moast importantly what a movie can do
(something unique to it).
