Erin,
Well, you jumped into the middle of debate between mystics on one side
(John, Squonk) and pragmatists on the other (me).
So, when you saddle up and try and make something interesting out of
non-language experience, I assumed you were fighting for a mystical reality
that is more real than a language reality.
Sorry. I was a bit defensive. My point was directed towards mystics and
representationalists. In other words, its only a point if you think that
language either brings us closer to reality or further away from reality.
If you don't think this, then of course its more helpful to understand a
language;-)
