Hello everyone,
I see language as something that can distance you from reality just as well as it can bring you closer to it, depending upon how it's used. Matt's "I'm going to punch you in the face" scenario is an example of language unifying one with the reality of "I'm about to be punched in the face", whereas historically inaccurate books, the Bible for example, fragments and skews reality. Language also distances one in that a verbal description of reality is often only a vague representation of reality itself, not reality at all. Language is a tool with many uses (and abuses). I feel I'm being obvious. And/or redundant. And I'm rambling...
