Hi Erin,
Thanks for this. Two things - can you point me to where Pirsig gives that
definition? (when I rummaged through Lila I couldn't come across a
definition). And secondly, I wouldn't say it is tied down to the human
species necessarily, it's just that that's all we know about so far. It's
quite conceivable that there is another species somewhere out there that is
functioning quite happily at a higher than social level.
