Hi Sam:
About your word, "eudaimonic." My unabridged Random House
Dictionary spells it "eudemonic" and defines it as "pertaining or
conducive to happiness." The world "eudemonia" is defined as
"Aristotlianism happiness as an active life governed by reason."
The description "governed by reason" and the connection to Aristotle,
the father of logic, appears to put a crimp in your effort to redefine the
fourth level, at least in your use of that word.
Another problem with the word is its abstruseness. When I first read
"eudaimonic" I was reminded of this from Lila:
"With that lead balloon for a vehicle there was no way he could
succeed."
So I hope you can find a better word to signify your redefinition of the
fourth level, something that not only gets the lead out but is a little more
descriptive than simply "be happy." I'll have more to offer about the
substance of your proposal later, but I must say now that using
psychotherapy to support your case is a non-starter due to its
doubtfulness as either science or a happiness booster.
