I think you're right, I do lapse back into trying to categorise things.
That's a mistake, which I shall try to steer away from in future.

I'll try to rephrase. If I'm still reifying the levels (that's Wim's
expression, which I think is the same criticism) please point it out.
Learning is fun!!

Music can provoke quality events (ie the experience of DQ)
High Quality art seems different. (or high quality music, or literature)
It can provoke the experience of DQ in the same way.
It can also educate about fourth level values - which are static.
The 'ologies' - when of reasonable Quality - function at this fourth level.
They (the art and the art criticism) don't naturally seem 'intellectual'
(abstract manipulation of symbols).

Pirsig says that 'culture' is a combination of intellectual and social
patterns. What I'm banging on about are cultural qualities - it's just that
I think there is something not included once you take out what can be valued
at the social level and what can be valued at the intellectual level.

Traditionally, 3 'bests' - the good, the true and the beautiful. I think
'intellect' only applies to the true.
