Bodvar, Xcto, Lithien, Jay and the Squad:
NEXT MONTH'S TOPIC?
Xcto writes........
<<<"A lot of the time I keep comments and posts to myself because I don't have
a
systematized concept of MOQ. Many of my thoughts seem "off the cuff" and mere
criticisms of a idea I know little about. But I also depend on these other
posts to develop the MOQ to me. I've only been a member of this dicussion for
a little over a week and already I'm ready for us to talk about other topics.
You got to start somewhere and I hope we can take your definition as a start
to move on to something else. This posts are extemely important to encourage
thought about DQ, but is that all we are trying to accomplish. Creating a
definition of Quality must be the one of the first steps to the creation of
MOQ. We can argue the definition but lets add a purpose to the
discussion.">>>>>>
Timely comments from Xcto. Do we have an official topic o' the month chosen
for Nov. yet? If not, here are some thots......
First, I feel we could gain immensely by comparing and contrasting MOQ to
other metaphysics, or to belief systems which take the metaphysical approach
of rejecting metaphysics. For example , could our philosophical members share
with us key similarities or distinctions between MOQ and empiricism, idealism,
pragmatism, neorealism, Zen Buddhism, Taoism, phenomalism, and phenomenology.
Where do we share assumptions? How does MOQ resolve their platypi? What
challenges do they provide to the MOQ?
Second, Bodvar, Lithien and Jay have been discussing an interesting
thread.Below is what Bodvar wrote to Jay on the issue of Advocacy:
<<<<"What's the best way of promoting the MOQ? My humble opinion is that
the Quality idea will sell itself, there is no other way forward and
it will be conceived by many different thinkers in many different
shapes. No particular policy or missionary activity is needed except
us keeping up the discussing about its ramifications.">>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lithien responded to both:
<<<<<<"what i tried to say before is that the value that MOQ holds for me is
that
it solves the platipi. all those seemingly unsolvable issues that are not
much more rationally explained if one follows Pirsig's line of thought and
accepts his premises.">>>>>>>>>>>
There have been posts ranging from just live your life right, to let's
repackage MOQ less mystically, to let's build our own text books, to "screw
'em", to let's just keep discussing it ourselves, to let's show that it is a
better explanation of the world. I don't know that any of these ideas are
really mutually exclusive...........So my second suggestion is could we take
on the issue of Advocacy........Do we want to? Is it something the Lila Squad
even sees as a part of its purpose? How should we best do so?
These are just some thots.
