perhaps the best way to view 'thinking' would be as a result of the
interaction of all four static layers with Dynamic Quality. i view the
intellect level as kind of a collective 'thought sphere' which all
life-forms value but perceive and use in different ways according to their
abilities.
recent research into consciousness has led to the belief that awareness may
arise at the quantum level within the brain in some way that is by no means
fully understood. as far as i can see, this is fully consistent with
Pirsig's Metaphysics of Quality and the sequence of interactions between the
four levels of static quality and Dynamic Quality.
the four static quality levels cannot really be thought of as being 'out
there', which i think has been emphasized quite a bit already. whenever i
discuss static quality i am using that primary assumption though i may not
state it each and every time. awareness seems to arise thru a sequence of
interactions driven by Dynamic Quality which we perceive as static quality,
which Bodvar has explained in previous emails quite well.
i do not happen to believe that we as humans 'create' intellectual patterns
so much as we perceive them, and in this we are no different than any other
species. we cannot assign 'thinking' to the intellectual level only, though
i can see its an easy misconception to make. if any of my writings have
inferred differently, then i have worded myself wrongly.
