        Sorry, I forgot to add to the bottom of my last post that I absolutely
agree that a lower level (like the Sociological) doesn't give a crap about
a higher level (like the Intellectual).
        Pirsig says that a level wants only to remain static enough to maintain
itself; aside from that it wants only to go with DQ.
        The higher level wants the lower level to be static enough to maintain
what it supports (namely, the higher level). The lower level wants to be
dynamic, the higher level wants it to be static. Thus, the conflict. Or
battle.
