Greetings,

David T:

"Does mysticism, a mystic, mystical tradition, or the practice of mysticism require any
"unquestioning belief" or faith?"

I don't like the definition of faith as 'unquestioning belief'. Faith is no less faith for being
questioned.

My answer (with that qualification) is that accepting any metaphysical position is ultimately an act
of faith, but that reason is the tool for sorting out which one is the more plausible.

Your second question is more difficult:

"What role does FAITH play in the MoQ?"

One example of faith in the MoQ is that we must suppose the universe to be fundamentally good.
Without faith in the value of everything the MoQ would mean nothing. Another example is that we must
have faith in the ability of the human mind to construct a reasonable metaphysics. Without this
faith, we wouldn't even bother to ask the question - the position of a true mystic.

Great questions,

Struan
