Is there really such a paucity of MOQ related issues to discuss that
the MD forum has to poach the posts from the LS forum?
There are any number of issues that can be discussed INCLUDING
the subjects that don't make it through the voting process on the LS.
Odd really! Nearly all those who have posted to the MD on the LS
PROGRAM subject didn't bother to join in voting for that subject
when asked - neither did they post any suggestions - with 1
exception. But as soon as it looks interesting, rather than post to the
legitimate forum, it's lifted. Some serious integrity being displayed
here folks.
There are approximately 25 members of LS who do not subscribe to
MD - why should they have to shuffle backwards and forwards on
archives trying to find posts which should have gone to the LS in the
first place.
Those on the MD have their own unrestricted, unmoderated,
completely open forum.But that's not enough. Why should those old
farts on the LS be allowed to disccuss what they want, in their own
way, at their own pace etc. etc. Obviously, it's not dynamic enough
and the MOQ states that you must be dynamic or you just ain't
makin' it.

If you don't like the way the game's played then don't play. Simple
really. And I haven't moved the goalposts - you know as well as
anyone that crossposting is poor ettiquette.

Yes I did. Once I had arrived home from work, eaten, spent some
time with my family etc. I replied and posted. Did you not receive the
reply? I also cc-ed it to the LS Committee.

Less than 10% of the post received have been rejected - for a variety
of reasons. Sometimes we only GET 2 posts in a day, sometimes
less.

The whole point of the LS forum is that it is focussed. Wandering off
onto off-topic subjects defeats the main purpose of the forum.
Dynamic freedom for natural evolution of a discussion is encouraged
on the MD - that's why it's there.
Most of the people who have been around for a while know the
committee members. Do you think we're some sort of power-crazed
control freaks?
If the LS seems slow at times what's the problem - use the MD
forum. Since MD started not one single solitary post has been
bounced.

Problem number 2. If posts start jumping from one forum to another it
makes it extremely difficult to follow a thread. MOQ.ORG is the best
site on the net for Pirsig related material. It is also the only site that
carries mailing lists. It was also the only site that Pirsig mentioned in
his new foreword in ZMM. That alone speaks volumes. We're the De
Facto Official site for the MOQ and as such have a responsibility to a
range of people, new and old members. We've got this far by the
efforts of a few people caring about what happens and creating
something good. In the future, we will be carrying other means of
communicating and probably more lists. Each list has a specific
purpose - like it or not! Mixing up threads by cross-posting will only
fragment and dilute the ideas of those who spend time and effort
posting. It's already starting.
As a repository for information on the MOQ it is and will continue to
be invaluable for others wishing to increase their knowledge of Pirsig
and Quality. As the MOQ is more widely accepted this site will be
where people come for information. Let's keep it simple and easy to
find. The archives do a superb job.

The relevant place for ideas that are not relevant to the LS discussion
is the MD list. The relevant place for ideas relevant to the LS
discussion is the LS list.
