Hi Rich E

I think most here accept: Quality = DQ+SQ;....................... and
regardless of the response it's not all that weird or necessarily unproductive
to look at static and dynamic quality your way. First of all, static is not
static, its stable, discernible, knowable, patterns following "in the wake
of... an ongoing stream of quality events"

Starting with this RMP......

"Dynamic Quality is a stream of quality events going on for ever and ever,
always the cutting edge of the present. But in the wake of the of this cutting
edge are static patterns of value.” RMP- S.O.D.V. pp 12.

So what are the qualities of events?

First of all to be an event it has to happen, if it doesn't happen there is no
event. So in MoQ, no events, no reality. The Cybernetics website says
something very similar using the term "action" as the primary component. It
speaks of agent+action+will and then says "When we ignore the agent, we speak
of actions as EVENTS." (my emphasis) In so much a the MoQ would like to avoid,
at least initially, agents and thus subjects and objects under it's premise
events are primary and the actions occurring during or just after "the cutting
edge" of the event allows patterns of value to emerge.

Are events individual, discreet, are there SINGLE events?

Movies are an obvious metaphor. Reality appears as a continuous flow, "a
stream" with no irritating "Steamboat Willie" flicker. An individual event
might be analogous to one cell of animation, just below normal perception. But
this is not quite right, as we study a single cell we could further subdivide
it in many ways. Figure and background, colors, and on and on until we finally got
to the structures of the molecules and atoms all as discreet patterns of
value. For any value to exists within a pattern they must, by definition, have
had an associated event. So for the cell metaphor to work there must be a host
of events occurring. While in theory we could talk about one event, in
practice, even slicing reality inconceivable thin, we are faced with a very
large number of interrelated events occurring simultaneously.

And ........good though our science is; the time lapse between the dynamic
event and when the patterns emerge and stabilize is so short that science may
never measure it. Then again, they might never try.

So you see there is no... "real difficulty....in seeing the static AS dynamic" either.

I've recently entertain the thought that the "original" split into dynamic and
static is unnecessary. More to match up with the subject object split than
anything else. The system would work just as well with dynamic as a quality of
the event as opposed the half of a bipolar split which containing just one
item, undefined DQ.

Quality>>>>>>> Stream of Q-Events>>>>>>>Static Patterns of Quality
                                        Dynamic Quality

But that's not just how RMP says it works.
