Rich , Roger, dlt and all the "faces" posters: I wonder if you'd go
along with a vague plan, even though this is the "unmoderated" forum?
After reading your posts on the static/Dynamic split and the Quality
Event idea, I took my own advice and re-read chapter 9. Its only 14
pages long. And its packed. Its rich. Parts of it are quoted all the
time, so I realize that you're already familiar with it. But please read
it again as an entire piece. There's almost a plot to it. He's telling
us how Phaedrus overcomes the problems with "a metaphysics that consists
of just one word" by introducing the static/Dynamic split. He tells it
like a story. Phaedrus has this problem and this is how he got stuck,
then how he solved it, made a new and better fundamental split in
reality and then taks about what it means in "real life" using a variety
of examples.

I guess I'm asking if anyone is interested in chapter nine as a topic of
discussion.

Here's a nice little teaser. He concludes the chapter just as he had
opened the chapter,by talking about the importance of the first
metaphysical division.

"With the identification of static and Dynamic Quality as the
fundamental division of the world, Phaedrus felt that some kind of goal
had been reached. This first division of the MOQ now covered the
spectrum of experience from primitive mysticism to quantum mechanics.
What remainedfor Phaedrus to do next was fill in the gaps as carefully
and methodically.... Life can't exist on DQ alone....He saw that much
can be learned about DQ by studying what it is NOT rather than FUTILELY
trying to define what it is. ... Slowly at first, and then with
increasing awareness that he was going in a right direction, Phaedrus'
central attention turned away from any further explanation of DQ and
turned toward the static patterns themselves."

Can we talk?
