JC, one thing no one is in disagreement about: We got a problem.

But IMO analyzing how "TV defines reality for most" is worthless. TV is not
the problem, and time spent analyzing the implications of TV on our
consciousness is wasted time. It's sad that the smartest people in America
waste so much time talking about and writing about petty theories such as
these. But intellectuals are just the same as everybody else in this country;
their personal pleasure and entertainment comes first. They actually *enjoy*
composing long dissertations on ultimately worthless theories, then
sanctimoniously present these dissertations as their noble contributions to
humanity. Meanwhile, people across the world continue to suffer and die, and
instead of getting help, they get theories.

Complacency is the problem, not TV. Putting our own pleasure above saving the
lives of our fellow humans is the problem. But no one wants to confront this
problem, because it means leaving the comfort zones behind. Americans don't
want to be uncomfortable.

Let's quit trying to pin the blame on TV and society at large and accept the
fact that *each and every one of us are to blame*. Even if all the TVs in the
world were destroyed, the root problem would remain. Our lack of caring for
others.
