    Jonathon,

I feel like I should take the blame for this one.

    >I struggled through one of those posts to its end where the writer signed
    >off "Thanks for your time, assholes."

I think DMB was refering to how I signed off the post for which he was
    replying:

"Please, please, please. Don't be like my asshole friends."

Now, I don't want to call everyone an A-hole. I only think people are
when, well, they are. I think DMB was only making light of this, but,
well, if he wasn't, then maybe he doesn't deserve our time.

Other than this recontextualization, I completely enjoyed and agree with
yours of Platt's Pirsig quote. On the same theme, isn't a flu shot the
injection of a small amount of influenza? Isn't that protect you from
virus' and such by building up your immune system? That's called
inoculation, if I'm not mistaken. Its also reminiscent of the scence in
Princess Bride where Wesley says he took small doses of iocane powder to
    build up his immunity.

Yours is a very good addition to the attack on Pirsig's "absolutism."

    Matt
