To Dan,
Dan wrote: "My post wasn't meant to be hostile; I'm afraid you have misread my post." Horsepucky! Exactly what is a man to conclude when you write "a mishmash of platitudes I've been reading my whole life." Not only does that expose an absense of grace and civility on your part, it suggests that you are indiscriminate in your choice of reading material. You might consider (if only as an experiment) encouraging new participants in this Forum. You seem to be statically latched to a covert set of rules for this Forum. Ham would not be the first to abandon the Forum after sniffing the tone of postings which come all too frequently from regulars here. Would it be naivishly sophomoric to expect a little more kindness here? You might want to explore the etymology of "philosophy" giving particular attention to the first syllable.
