Research into Wilber's use of the term 'holons' reveals that he has abused
this term, primarily in the context of category mistakes. See:

The metaphysical basis for AQAL (All quadrants, all levels) is held together
by jumping from diperate catagories. For example, one result is the assertion
that atoms and tribes are social holons. The differences between AQAL and the
MOQ are very significant.
I reject Wilber's metaphysics, but not out of hand. I've become versant in
it's terminology and underlying metaphysical assumptions. Time to forget about
it...
