Hi Mark,
I am not ready to answer your letter yet. I need some time to think.
But I want to ask you one more question. May I?
Mark 3-9-04: Hi Ilya, of course. I'm learning at the same time as you. By the way, i'm responding to this post away from home, so i hope you get it.
Does MOQ allow the possibility of interaction between different levels
of static patterns? Something tells me it doesn't.
Mark 3-9-04: The MOQ says levels are disrete. But they do interact in two stated ways: 1. A higher level values a lower level as that from which the higher level escapes. 2. A higher level values a lower level as that which is required for stability.
These interations appear to be contradictory? But, if we introduce our old friend coherence, it may be seen that coherence is the best relationship between freedom and stability.
In such a case how
does MOQ explain the phenomenon of self-hypnosis? When a man suggests
himself (intellectual level) that he is healthy, and his ailments
(biological level) really go away?
Thank you for your help,
Ilya
Mark 3-9-04: The hypnosis example you use is absolutely facinating. The reason i find it so facinating is because i have been watching the Republican party convention in New York on TV, and if that is not a good example of mass hypnosis then i don't know what is?
At the Republican convention social event, celebrity status is used to nullify intellectual patterns. In your example, suggestion, which i am assuming to be an intellectually guided Dynamic proccess, is used to nullify pain. Both are low quality and morally reprehensible according to the MOQ.
Does this make sense?
All the best,
Mark
