Bill Hicks (a prodigious mushroom person - at least, for a time) said his
best trips were always in the countryside...
For something to play on the tape recorder... that psychedelic album (SMiLE)
by the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson is finally released in the States today.
Could make for an interesting mix...
Chuck replies:
I had already planned to purchase SMiLE after work this afternoon. I
understand it rivals PET SOUNDS. Hard to believe.
I actually planned to save my thoughts and music on the tape recorder
throughout the potential trip, but that's a great idea. There's a
beautifull park in Chico, CA where I attended undergraduate university.
It's called Bidwell and it boasts open fields, green rolling hills and a
river runs through it. It's about an eight hour drive from here.
I've got this orange '78 VW Transporter; I think she can still make it.
I've still got some friends meandering around the north end of the
Sacramento Valley and now I'm getting sort of excited...
Nervous too, which I don't understand, I've done this a few times before,
though it's been some years. I feel as if I'm on the cusp of something,
skirting the perimeter of something and this trip might be the boost I need
to peek over the edge, but I don't want to get stuck there.
I want to be able to go home again.
C.
