During a painting session, I was considering the concept of guiding the viewer to 'look here, don't look there'.  It's trying to guide the viewers visual attention in the painting.

    Lightbulb!

It's just like this vispassana meditation I'm reading about.  Everything is there in front of you, but you choose(freewill) where to spend your attention.  The 'everything' is other thoughts and experience.  Thoughts being in various stages of static quality, and experience being pure dynamic quality.

    Am I close?

(I meditated daily for a couple of years in the 80s.  I've seen thoughts come and go.  You don't easily forget the wonder of that.)

You know?  It's silly, but I keep waiting for a voice to say "Yes Marsha.  There really is a Santa Claus."
