The thing is you know, in the US it seems like
religion is a big social force, in the UK it has almost
no social force, so in good old secular UK we are
much more comfortable to be keen on science and
yet interested or re-interested in the insights
of religious writing. In US Dawkins is useful to
bash creationists, in UK he looks like a philistine.
