    Hi Mark

The thing about John Peel was that he was totally unique in the music business.
Someone who really cared about the _music_ and didn't give a toss about fame or the
other trappings of that world. When you listened to his show you always got something
worth listening to rather than the "incredibly predictable porridge", as he put it, that
passes for music currently. I've been listening to him and the music he presented since
the sixties and he's probably the only DJ on the planet who's been consistently good
throughout my life. The original and best and genuinely irreplaceable. I don't think there
are sufficient superlatives to describe him properly. Anyway, I know I'll miss him, his
    music and his humour.
