    Well, I'm not so sure (that there is no Eastern equivalent of 'nihilism').
    In Huntington's "The Emptiness of Emptiness" he discusses the Madhyamika's
    rejection of nihilism, by which he is referring to the Sanskrit word
    'ucchedavada'. I'm no Sanskrit scholar, so I don't know how well the
    English 'nihilism' relates. It is generally taken to mean a denial that
    anything exists, or that anything is knowable, or that anything is
    valuable. At any rate, Indian philosophy was aware 2000 years ago of a
    philosophical position we would call nihilism.
