I think the trick is to turn the cynicism into something positive.
Withdrawing from the main (rigged / Catch-22) game is fine.
Pursuing a buddhist line is one alternative, but we need to remember (and
remind others) why we're doing it.
It's a well tried and tested manoevre in battle.
In Pirsig's own (approximate) words ...
"To outflank western civilisation."
ie Choosing not to meet it head on, is not to ignore it.
So yes, that does make you an ostrich, ie a far-sighted bird with a very
tall neck able to see past all the conventional SQ crap :-)
