Platt said the other day he "wondered where my sympathies" were with regards to
Iraq and the "terrorists". I've thought about this a bit, and was wondering if
this reply is in the spirit of the MOQ:
My sympathies lie with the victims of any ideological, static-social conflict,
who do not seek to participate in that conflict, where the needs of the state
surpass the needs of the individual, whether these be American citizens, Iraqi
citizens, or the citizens of any "nation-state".
Furthermore, my sympathies lie with the citizens of any nation-state that have
been convinced to support ideological ends that place the good of the ideology,
and the continument of a nation-state, above threatening intellectual patterns
that challenge the existence of the nation-state, whether the nation-state in
question is Iraq or America.
Finally, my sympathies lie with the victims of self-righteous "moralists",
whether they fly planes into buildings or drop napalm on city streets, who
dismiss their victims as "biological germs" guilty soley by static-social
patterns of association (i.e., shared nation-state status). In other words, the
"dehumanization" (and thus de-empathy) of those from "other static
social-patterns", and the "ultrahumanification" (or hyper-empathy) towards
those from ones shared social static pattern.
I'm not concerned that Platt will fall back on his "biological-social"
misunderstanding, as I am sure he will (and Wim is doing a fine job on that
front), as much as I am interested in furthering my understanding of the MOQ.
Your thoughts are much appreciated.
