Ant,
Good point, so I'll have to refine it. Pretty much I was thinking of
Pirsig's apologetic approach to writing metaphysics in spite of the presumed
mystics' disapproval, with his ending up that it is just something to do
like getting drunk and picking up ladies in bars. In contrast, I was
thinking of the Middle Way viewing of what Nagarjuna wrote as "skillful
means". Now whether one should still think of it as metaphysics is, in my
view, an open question, one which I have been exploring with Matt.

So overall, the MOQ is nihilist, since it itself is SQ.
Ant McWatt comments:
So overall, Nagarjuna's philosophy (the historical author of the Middle Way)
is also nihilist, since it itself is also SQ (i.e. consists of intellectual
static quality patterns)?
I wouldn't really like to push this highly dubious idea in a philosophy
class on Cittamatra Buddhism.
Best wishes,
Anthony.
