Hello Marsha,
Well, if you read Nietzsche than it becomes quite clear that Nihilism
is/was indeed frightening(Remember the aforism on the death of God in
'The gay science"?"Who took the sponge and wiped away the whole
horizon?"), the question emerges: is it still frightening? To Moq'ers
it is, for the MOQ is teleological metaphysics, one of the frightning
things about nihilism is that there is no telos - and ofcourse non of
the other 'atia'. For Heidegger, as far as my knowledge of
Heidegger's take on nihilism reaches, is nihilism
'Seinsvergessenheit', which is indeed very manifest today, people
surrendering themselves to technology in the broadest
sense(unescapable), specifically to entertainment. This is ofcourse a
very short and distorted version but it is an entrance at least..
kind rergards, Chris
