PLATT: Where would rock be today without entrepreneurial capitalism?
ERIN: Exactly. You find A (rock-n-roll) and B (degeneracy in America) so you make the assertion A causes B. But as you know correlation doesn't equal causation because of the possibility of a third variable C----and as you put it where would rock-n-roll be without entrepreneurial capitalism. But you would never assert that entrepreneurial capitalism is leading to a narrowing of the mind in America though I guess you only use overly simplistic generalizations when it suits you. When I think of the most dynamic places they are capitlistic but again it is hard for me to imagine them being that dynamic without things like rock-n-roll.
