Horse, Platt, Jonathan, DMB, all others
As a former "dissenter" and (on a few regrettable occasions) "name-caller" I
feel I am morally obligated to weigh in on this issue. While my "negative"
posts, years ago, were not as intelligently crafted as those of Straun or
Glenn (the latter whom I had a few shoot-outs with regarding the effect of
the scientific method on social morality), I feel that I did get out of line
a few times, and I knew I was getting out of line.
Now that I've had a child and wife, I realize the essential nature of
conforming. Static Quality, in the sense of conforming to the rules and
regulations of society, is required of all of us in this world. That by NO
MEANS excludes Dynamic Quality. But we must CONFORM FIRST, master the
fundamentals, and THEN Dynamic Quality will emerge.
So I come down on the side of Platt and Horse. Let us all conform, let us all
support the decisions of Horse, because it is he who has dedicated himself to
running and maintaining this high quality website. If a book were written
with the title "Zen and the Art of Website Maintenance" I would not hesitate
to presume that its author was a man named Horse! People must realize that
this is the ONLY website endorsed by the father of LILA himself, Robert
Pirsig--let us not hurt Horse, the man who has taken on the great
responsibility of keeping it up.
