ROBIN: The distinction I wanted to make that some philosophers want to find a
better way, others want to find the eternal truth.
ROBIN: The philosopher that believes in a universal truth does not nececarily use a
universal method.
ROBIN: I agree and its a good time we live in with so many people beeing open for
new ideas and methods.
But in my opinion any philosopher that can get mad at someone for not beeing
willing to believe his ideas because he believes they are universal and
unchangeable is a philosophologer.
Robin, Matt, and all philosophers/philophologists,
When I read Pirsig in Coplestone annotations I saw statements that either directly or imlicitly implied in my opinion that MOQ is a religion, a philosophy, and a science.
So I am having a hard time distinguishing Pirsig and the above quotes. This also reminded me of a quote about creativity, this wasn't exactly the quote i was looking for but close enough
“Seeing connections between things that other people don’t – and making these connections frequently”
In this way Pirsig is being very creative in putting MOQ as an example of science, religion, and philosophy. In using that definition of creativity, I think posters here are very "creative" when thinking about MOQ and science, just look at their vocab ;-) but are very "uncreative" when thinking about MOQ and religion. So what exactly is creativity--anybody have other quotes or definitions? Is the creativity of philosophy different than the creativity of science?
Isn't it creative when somebody is seeing distinctions between things that other people don’t – and making these distinctions frequently.
So what to do when somebody is creatively connecting things while somebody is creatively distinguishing things---call one philosopher and one philophologist?
