    I didn't interpret lack of wider debate as lack of interest Platt did.

    Obviously we'd all like to apply moral philsophy to the "real world",
    whether we think of ourselves as pragmatists or not.

    The problem is the tit-for-tat dialetctical style of argument doesn't
    allow us to make any meaningful progress at this complex high level of
    human affairs. There is no point trying to stitch together
    wide-ranging valid "opinions" with logic. Jokes, and metaphorical
    aphorisms are better than logic at this level - seriously - fact.

    We need quality arguments, explanations and persuasions comprising
    more than Aristotelian logic. Until that happens these debates just
    hold too many snags to be worth the effort.
