The terror business is a sensitive issue and the pundits tip-toe
around it. There is a flood of commentaries where every possible
and impossible angle is tried and I feel that none of us can
compete with these SOM-based professionals, the thing we have
is the MOQ and I see it throwing a totally new light on things.
Anthony threads carefully and "political freedom" sounds safe
enough, but the first thing (for instance) the people of Algeria (is
that the way it is spelled?) used their political freedom for was to
elect it away, so I think Platt is correct in his evaluation. For my
own I may add that all political correctness is wasted here: The
terror has its root in the social-intellectual struggle with Islam
representing the former. But note, In spite of being the highest
moral level (formerly called SOM) intellect is static and
hampered with the static limitation of only seeing its own nose.

As you know I don't agree with this use of intellect. That the
terrorists are intelligent - possibly highly so - is not in question.
Neither their ability to respond to DQ, but in their capacity as
bomb carriers they are convinced that they act on behalf of God
and this is all about emotions; the social realm IMO.
To call a religion peaceful or that if only its tenets are observed
everything will be OK is futile. The Semitic type religions (Islam
and Judaism) are the most archaic social pattern and may be
most benign to believers, and if/when they rule unrestricted like in
the old Kalifat of around 1000 AD, but beware infidels and other
area-claiming religions (the Jew/Arab conflict).
But other similar religions they can handle, that's familiar ground,
intellectual value is something else. It is of course not recognized
at all, but seen as corruption of own value and why the
fundamentalists despise their own regimes that seem willing to
compromise as much as the West that relentlessly keep pressing
its ways upon this region.

Well, this is intellect from where everything has "objective"
rational reasons - preferably political - but is not the MOQ view of
things. Which is that intellect will keep up the pressure on the
social-value-dominated world, which in turn can't help resist it.
Terrorism will not stop this process, in the end intellectual value
will change this region too. Islam will get its reformation (it's due
according to the Christianity timeline). The West on the other
hand will transcend intellect (SOM) and go on to the MOQ stage.
This means that East and West finally have met.
