    Hi Ian

    In this book George looks at the great sweeps
    of changes that have created modern culture.
    A movement from 'hope in the next world' to
    'hope in this world' to our currrent 'no hope'.
    Like ZAMM there is a look at the sterilty
    of some forms of scientific/scientistic thinking.
    Above all Steiner asks what has happened to
    very interesting explorations of the notion of
    creativity in both religious and artisitic thought.
    This thinking points towards a richerconception of
    reality/experience. Comes pretty close to saying we
    are obsessed with SQ to the expense of DQ I would
    say.
