I like rhymes. I like rhetoric. But there is more than rhyme and
rhetoric in the spectre of 'communism'. It was something I was
raised with, fear of communism. Fear that one day we'd all get blown
up because one half the planet didn't like the economic-political
sytems of the other half. The bipolar world on a hairtrigger notice
was not a nice place to mature and raise children. We humans really
don't need that kind of stress. And it was a big relief when the
Russians tore down their wall and said, "Ok, we'll try your economic
system for a while and we won't make such a big deal about it."
But they still own the other half of the world's nukes, and I think
for ultimate peace and prosperity, we ought to embrace them like a
husband embraces his wife. Part of that embrace would be to stop
reacting to perfectly nice words as if they had power to throw you in
a gulag. I think the Russians were smart to make their country more
capitalistic. I think Americans would be smart to make their country
a little more communistic. Hey, moderation.
but, ok, nevermind. I got other stuff preoccupying me right now
anyway. It was just an example anyway...
