It isn't intellect's job to determine if society's codes are just
(whatever "just" means):
"This last, the Dynamic-static code, says what's good in life isn't
defined by society or INTELLECT or biology. What's GOOD IS FREEDOM FROM
DOMINATION BY ANY STATIC PATTERNS, but that freedom doesn't have to be
obtained by destruction of the patterns themselves." (Lila, 24 - caps
added)
It's intellect's job to defend it's own codes (free press, free travel,
free religion, etc.) from social dominance. And as the rest of Chapter 24
makes clears, it's also intellect's job to support society in its battle
against biological forces. The problem is:
"Intellectuals have failed to understand the ocean of biological quality
that is constantly being suppressed by the social order."
How true, oh how true.
