I agree with Ant McWatts analysis of Lila in that it takes from the right that the free market has dynamic quality the ability to change whereas planning is inflexible whilst the left strand ( apart from it being a higher evolutionary form and an intellectually guided society )is stating that this dynamism may produce negatively social things sweatshops, etc so leftist intervension like a minimum wage, etc. Pirsig talks about "Marx furs" in Lila so maybe the right is the thesis, the socialists are the antithesis and the MOQ is the synthesis that combines the best of both intellectual traditions. I also noticed the world poverty banners on the MOQ a lot of people agrue that poverty in Africa could be alleviated if the west really lived up to its free market ideals and allowed African countries access to their markets rather than dumping cheap goods and protectionism of their markets.
