IMO, all thinking, whether it's thinking about thinking or thinking about
sporting a bare mid-riff to try to look like Brittany Spears (or is it Britney,
not that I care) is a product of mind or intellect and thus belongs in the
intellectual level. David tries to persuade us that there is such a thing as
"social level thinking" attributable to religious fanatics, bigots and
conservatives in general. But I disagree. You can say that some
intellectual patterns or thoughts are of low value, i.e., bigoted, stupid,
fashionable, paranoid or whatever. But they still occupy the intellectual
level, the level where ideas reside. Unthinking habits, traditions,
manners, mores, etc. make up the social level . . . like the Victorians
who never questioned for a moment that women and children in the
upper class should have first dibs on the Titanic's lifeboats.
