    Hi Ham,

    You wrote:
What I'm getting at here is that meaning and purpose (or what the
    vitalists
call "teleology") is part of the cosmic design, and that we are
    restricted
from probing beyond the point at which such knowledge would defeat its
purpose. You and I right now are on the edge of this dilemma, and I
    think
we can hypothesize a Primary Difference without pushing our discussion
    into
    the realm of ineffability.

If you've read my thesis, you'll note that I have long believed that
"nothingness", or its negation, plays a significant role in Creation.
    So
far, I've lacked the understanding to explain it intelligibly.
    Nothingness
is the great divider of all objects, events, and thoughts. The paradox
    is
that Essence contains no nothingness, yet it's the primary
    "differentiator"
of existence. (I'm as fascinated by nothingness as Pascal was.) What
    I'd
like to be able to do now is to postulate a metaphysical theory that
    would
explain how nothingness -- the antithesis of Essence -- can be brought
    into
existence to create a differentiated reality. (This is the challenge
    that I
    see remaining.)

What can you tell me about nothingness, Reinier? Can you in any way
    relate
it to your theory of non-contradiction? Feel free to ramble.
    (Believe it
or not, I get insights from listening to you.)

    Me:
Well, unfortunatly, I do not share your view of nothingness as creator
of differentiation. I don't think differentiation needs this.
Nothingness for me merely represents the hypothetical opponent of
Essence. I say hypothetical, because it cannot exist as opponent.
Even if it's a differentiator in existence, then it would be part of
essence, because everything in existence is part of essence.
And I don't see how giving up the concept of nothingness, would
jeopardize your thesis. Differentiation comes from valueing, is a
valueistic concept. But it's the valueing of the opposites that create
differentiation, and not the thin line of nothingness in between (if
    there is any).

    Kind regards,
    Reinier.
